In scene two, Stella and Blanche are planning to go out. Stanley, suspicious of Blanche, goes through her suitcase looking for papers about the sale of the plantation, which he doesn't find. 4. In Scene One we are introduced to the characters, or most of them as well as the setting. The major event that occurs is the arrival of Blanche, Stella's younger sister who arrives with shocking news. Apparantly the family farm was taken away for unknown reasons. In Scene Two we learn more about Stella's husband Stanley. He believes strongly in the Napoleonic Code and interrogates Blanche about why Belle Reve, the family farm, was taken from them. It might have to do with the mortgage. I believe that's all that happens.

  6. Blanche and stanley are complete opposites, Blanche comes across as a insensitive, and self-obsessed individual and doesn’t express joy at seeing Stella so in love. In Scene One it stresses the sexual attraction that drew Stella and Stanley to one another despite of their class differences. Scene Two shows Stanley acting disrespectful to Stella and oblivious to her sister. Blanche takes the first of many baths in this scene. She claims that hot baths are necessary to calm her nerves. Blanche’s constant need to wash her body symbolizes her need for emotional, spiritual, and mental cleansing/refreshing.

  7. In Scene I of "A Street Car Named Desire" Stella, one of the main characters, has her sister Blanche show up at her town in New Orleans. This is interesting because Blanche is a little strange compared to most people in New Orleans. Throughout the two scenes Blanche and Stanley, Stella's husband, realize over and over again that they are complete opposites. They do not agree with each other on anything and it creates tension in the house. This is a problem for Stella because there are times when she has to choose between her sister and her husband. Also, we find out that Stella is pregnant which just creates more tension throughout the beginning of the play.

Blanche is very emotional & upset about losing her hometown, Bella Reve. In the first scene, we see her sneaking drinks & explaining to Stella how she is here. In scene 2, we get more into Stanley's & Stella's life. As Blanche is taking a bath, Stella & Stanley talk about how there are no papers about bella Reve & that her sister has so much nice stuff. He also brings up the Napoleanic code, which explains that whatever belongs to the wife, belongs to the husband & vice-versa. Stella then goes to defend her sister, but is not around when Stanley starts questioning Blanche about Bella Reve...

  20. The play starts off introducing Stella and Stanley and where they live. It describes how they live in a poorer part of town and Williams also notes the piano playing and how it sets the mood for the whole story. We star with Stella being home and Stanley coming by, drops meat off, and goes out bowling with Mitch, to be shortly followed by Stella. Right after Stella leaves, her sister Blanche shows up at her street, confused and expecting something much nicer. She seems out of place in her expensive clothes and her attitude. Eunice, who lives upstairs of Stella, invites Blanche inside and goes to get Stella. Blanch talks to Stella when she arrive3s home and they embrace. Blanche is worried about Stan not liking her, and when they meet, they start off on the wrong foot. Blanche also lets slip to Stella that she lost Belle Reve, their ancestral family home. The next scene starts with Stan and Stella talking bout Blanche and Stan is very angered to find out that Blanche lost Belle Reve. He brings up the Napoleonic code and says that she sold it and kept his and Stella share for herself. He felt cheated and he also lets slip that Stella s pregnant, because she left for the drugstore to get a lemon coke for Blanche.
